The aim of this study day is to enhance our ministry to those living and dying with cancer. We will explore the physical, social, emotional and spiritual impact of the disease on individuals and families from experienced palliative care professionals.

The aim of this course is to enhance the knowledge and skill of nurses and to promote best practice in obtaining blood specimens in adult patients.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course participants will:
 Identify key issues in relation to the scope of practice in nursing
 Summarise the main principals for venepuncture
 Describe the infection control principals in relation to venepuncture
 Demonstrate competence in venepuncture using venepuncture training arm
 Identify the procedure involved in venepuncture
 Outline the procedure involved in completing the “Venepuncture Competency Record Form"

A growing number of older people now live and die in nursing and residential homes. This half day workshop for Nurses and HealthCare Assistants aims to look at the impact moving to a care home has on the person and their family and will consider effective ways in which this can be minimised.
